Rules & legality
The legal card pool, deckbuilding rules, and rotation.
Planar Standard uses the normal constructed rules. Only the card pool and rotation differ.
The card pool
Bans
- BannedCori-Steel Cutter
Announcements are posted in the Discord and on r/planarMTG.
Special events may use their own pool.
Deckbuilding
- Maindeck: 60 cards minimum.
- Sideboard: up to 15 cards.
- Copies: up to 4 of any card by name, across maindeck and sideboard. Basic lands are exempt.
Any printing is legal
A card is legal if any printing of it is in a legal set, and then any printing of
it may be played. Llanowar Elves (M19) is legal because Llanowar Elves is in
Foundations.
Rotation
The format holds the previous two years of Universes Within sets. Rotation happens when the first Universes Within set of each year releases.
The format also holds the latest "Core" set.
Checking a list
Paste a list to check it; you don't need an account. Misspellings, cards outside the pool and too many copies are all detectable.
